Breastfeeding should always be done on demand. You CANNOT overfeed a breastfed baby, so boob boob boob!

In the first few months of life, breastfeed babies should feed a minimum of 6 times in a 24hr period but can feed as many as 12-14 times a day. It is different for each dyad and completely normal!

Some women will have a larger storage capacity than others, which in turn means the babies will get more milk at a feed compared to a woman who has a smaller storage capacity, both completely normal, it just means that the women with the smaller storage capacity may find her child might feed more frequently compared to the woman with the larger storage capacity.

Breast size does not necessarily mean you will have a larger storage capacity.

As babies get older feed amounts may decrease and in certain situations they may also increase (unwell, teething, hot/cold, growth spurts). Also, when solids are introduced at 6 months of age, you may find some feeds drop of or even don't last as long. Breastmilk should always be offered before solids as it is their main source of nutrition for the first year of their life.
